LOCATION: BWEYALE, UGANDA
IMPACT AREA: VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Who We Help
The vocational training program is available at no cost to both the refugee population and local Ugandans in the surrounding community. The program offers four vocational tracks. Each program is designed to prepare graduates with skills that allow them to be employed by others or pursue entrepreneurial dreams. The settlement, managed by UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) can accommodate up to 100,000 refugees. UNHCR estimates that South Sudanese comprise most of the population. Because the continual influx of refugees into Uganda creates pressure and competition for scarce resources including job training, the WCF vocational programs also serve the local community.
